Class 3A Boys Semifinal Recaps

MINNEAPOLIS 62, KANSAS CITY CHRISTIAN 46

Grayson George shot light's out for Minneapolis scoring a game-high 20 points to lead the Lions into the Class 3A title game with a 62-46 victory over Kansas City Christian.

George was 8 of 9 from the field, going 3 of 4 from 3-point range to lead Minneapolis, which shot a white-hot 67.6 percent from the field (23 of 34).

Minneapolis started off 6 out of 10 shooting to build a 16-8 lead after one quarter. That happened to be the closest Kansas City Christian (18-7) got for the remainder of the game.

Dylan Crosson had 11 points and eight rebounds for the Lions. Keegan McGullick had nine points. Casy Arganbright had eight points.

Minneapolis is shooting 61.1 percent (44 of 72) in its first two tournament games. Against KCC, the Lions were 4 of 7 from 3-point range and 12 of 19 from the foul line. Minneapolis had 17 asssits (McGullick had six) on 23 made baskets.

Graham Shadwick had 17 points to lead KCC. Jordan Mehalic had nine points. KCC shot 16 of 46 from the field (34.8 percent), 6 of 16 from 3-point range and 8 of 16 from the free-throw line.

WICHITA COLLEGIATE 60, ROSSVILLE 37

Defending Class 3A state champion Wichita Collegiate shot 51 percent and rolled to yet another title-game berth with a 60-37 victory over Rossville.

Blake Jablonski hit four 3-point goals and led the Spartans with 12 points. Doug Burton and Bryce Cornejo had nine points each, while Ty Fiegel had eight points.

The Spartans were 26 of 51 shooting (51.0 percent), including 7 of 16 from 3-point range and just 1 of 2 from the foul line.

Defensively, Collegiate (24-1) forced 20 Rossville turnovers that led to 23 Spartan points.

Rossville (20-5), which will play Kansas City Christian in the 2 p.m. consolation game on Saturday, shot just 33.3 percent (12 of 36) and was 2 of 8 from 3-point range and 10 of 18 from the free-throw line.

Tanner Cady had 12 points to lead the Dawgs. Matthew Buhler scored nine points and had eight rebounds.
