Title: ONLINE BRIDGE / REGISTERED NURSE PROGRAM INSTRUCTOR - (Temporary Position) (FAC2769) 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential –

  • Teach effectively the approved didactic and clinical curriculum (January through December) to prepare students to become Registered Nurses. Assignments shall include evening courses and non-traditional scheduling, and shall include teaching via alternative delivery systems.
  • Participate in planning and organizing the Online Bridge to RN curriculum, including the establishment of course competencies and syllabi development as defined by the Kansas State Board of Nursing and/or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission.
  • Create and maintain a positive educational climate designed to enhance learning and motivation.
  • Utilize appropriate teaching methodologies and instructional materials as defined by the Accreditation Commission for the Education in Nursing to meet student needs and abilities.
  • Participate in continuous evaluation of the Bridge Program (online).
  • Participate in recruitment of students to the program.
  • Attend required pertinent activities of faculty, the advisory committee and the community college.
  • Assume responsibility for organization, administration, continuous review, planning, development, and general effectiveness of didactic and clinical experiences in collaboration with program coordinator and cooperating agencies.
  • Participate in the continuous evaluation of students within the framework of the program with input from clinical site personnel.
  • Document and evaluate student papers: Provide feedback and academic counseling as necessary to promote successful learning.
  • Maintain requirements of accrediting and cooperating agencies and parent organizations; display positive professional and personal qualities.
  • Pursue professional development through classes, workshops and other activities.
  • Contribute to the faculty body of knowledge through exchange of professional information.
  • Collaborate cooperatively in the development and revision of the curriculum within the framework of the philosophy of the program.
  • Arrive on time for work, attend work regularly, and successfully complete the responsibilities of the position.
  • Comply with HutchCC policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Serve actively on campus committees.

Secondary –

  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Program Director, Department Chair and /or the Vice President of Adacemic Affairs. This position reports to the Director of the Nursing Program/Allied Health Department Co-Chair.

QUALIFICATONS:

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing with academic progress toward the completion of an earned Master’s Degree in Nursing may be considered.
  • Current license as a registered nurse in the State of Kansas required.
  • A minimum of two years current nursing clinical experience.
  • Certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation required.
  • The ability and willingness to teach via alternative delivery methods.
  • The ability and willingness to teach clinical on evenings and/or weekends.
  • The ability to work effectively with students, staff, faculty, and community members.
  •  Physical activities include the ability to perform hand motions to operate office equipment; excellent written, verbal and listening communication skills - (Verbal intelligence - Theability to understand words and respond effectively and appropriately).  Visual acuity to view a computer terminal; this osition is sedentary but includes a substantial amount of keyboarding; Light/Indoor work environment.
  • Mental reqruirements include the ability to learn and comprehend basic instructions about the position.

SALARY and STATUS:

The salary is determined with qualifications by HutchCC administration.  This full-time, temporary administrative staff position is 9 month plus 30 extra days, (For a total of 200 work days per contract that include working in the Spring, Summer and Fall semesters of 2017).This position is not benefit eligible due to the temproary status; exempt.  Work days during the summer also will occur with this position.
