TITLE:  Instructor/Trainer, Practical Nursing Program (Part-Time) - Fort Riley Site

APPLICATION

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Functions -

  • Teach effectively the approved clinical/lab curriculum to prepare students to become practical nurses.
  • Participate in planning and organizing nursing curriculum as defined by the Kansas State Board of Nursing and/or National League for Nursing.
  • Create and maintain a positive educational climate designed to enhance learning and motivation.
  • Utilize appropriate teaching methodologies and instructional materials to meet student’s needs and abilities.
  • Participate in continuous evaluation of nursing preparation program.
  • Participate in recruitment and admission of students to school.
  • Attend required, pertinent activities of faculty, advisory committee, and the community college.
  • Assist in the orientation process of new faculty.
  • Assume responsibility for organizing and implementing assigned clinical experiences in collaboration with program director and cooperating agencies.
  • Document and evaluate student progress; provide feedback and academic counseling as necessary to promote successful learning.
  • Assist in facilitating appropriate student activities including promotion/graduation.
  • Maintain requirements of accrediting and cooperating agencies and parent organizations; display positive professional and personal qualities.
  • Tutor student both individually and in group settings.
  • Pursue professional development through classes, workshops, etc.
  • Arrive on time for work, attend work regularly, and successfully complete the responsibilities of the position.
  • Comply with HutchCC policies, procedures and practices.

Secondary –

  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Program Coordinator.

QUALIFICATIONS {Essential}:

  • Associate Degree in Nursing required.  Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Current license as a registered nurse in the state of Kansas.
  • Minimum of two years nursing experience required.
  • Certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation required.
  • The ability to work effectively with students, staff, faculty and others.
  • Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, walk, bend, stoop, reach, push/pull, carry, etc. excellent communication skills, basic reading skills, basic writing skills and basic math skills; Manual dexterity to operate office equipment; see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in person and on the telephone; use appropriate judgment and apply tact and courtesy in difficult situations; understand words and respond effectively and appropriately; Visual acuity to view a computer terminal; Light/Indoor work environment -
  • Mental requirements include the ability to learn and comprehend basic instructions about the position.

HOURLY RATE and STATUS:

The hourly rate of pay is commensurate with qualifications as determined by HutchCC administration.  The employee in this position will work 25 hours per week over 11 months.  This position qualifies for the KPERS retirement program, but is not eligible for other HutchCC benefits due to the part-time status.  This position is nonexempt.
