As the department chair for the Natural Science and Mathematics Department, Dr. Tricia Paramore is constantly busy. She’s always involved in the day-to-day running of the department, reviewing courses and evaluating faculty, and working on new courses and programs to add the schedules at HCC.
But it's the other part of her job, teaching, that gets her excited about going to work every day. When her students succeed, and are accepted into university programs, pharmacy school or medical school, Paramore knows she has done the most important part of her job.
I love teaching students about biology! The classroom is my oasis - a time to discuss biology topics with students and relate it to their everyday lives. The great thing about biology is that it's about YOU and how YOU interact with the world around you, so you can immediately see direct applications of the theories and concepts we discuss in the classroom. Every single day I have the privilege of working with truly outstanding students and faculty at HCC, I get to work in a beautiful, modern facility, and I get paid! What could be better?
