Faculty Focus - Instructor Kent Sallee

Kent Sallee is a man of many talents. Sallee, an instructor and logistics coordinator with the HCC Emergency Medical Sciences program, is also an EMS professional who still gets out in the field with the paramedics of the McPherson EMS unit. Sallee began teaching future medical responders in 1992, and became a full-time member of the HCC staff four years ago.

Now, he is beginning to see a real impact of his choice to go into teaching.

A few months ago, I responded to a cardiac emergency, in my capacity as an EMT. After a few minutes, paramedics from McPherson EMS arrived. As we were working on our patient, I looked around the room and was struck by the fact that not only were they all HCC graduates, but I had also been their instructor. It was a cool feeling to know that I was there when they chose to go into medicine, and now they take what I taught them and go even further with it.
